  • Virtual Tour of UConn Core Facilities
    The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) have produced a Virtual Tour of some of the UConn Core Facilities. The Biophysics Core Facility and the two other facilities in Biology and Physics Building Room G05 are presented starting at ~6:25 minutes into the video.

  • Facility instrument fees/rates will increase July 1, 2021
    There was an increase in the facility instrument use fees starting July 1, 2021. In most cases, the increase is ~5%, but in some cases it will be more. The assisted use surcharge has been separated from the instrument use fees. The new fees are now listed under the “User Fees” tab.

  • Microscale Thermophoresis (MST) instrument funded
    The Biophysics Core Facility will be permanently adding a Picored/Nanoblue Microscale Thermophoresis (MST) instrument to the core. We received notice of award today (6/24/21) from the NIH for a NanoTemper Instruments Monolith NT.115Pico instrument. It is expected to be installed early fall.

What we do

The Biophysics Core Facility consists of analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC), microcalorimetry, and protein X-ray crystallography facilities. These facilities support research specializing in the study of biophysical characteristics of molecules and proteins and the interaction between molecules.
